Get ready for a night of glitz and glamour in Geraldton’s epicentre of creativity as the region’s most highly anticipated art event returns – the Mid West Art Prize 2025 Gala Opening Night!
The Mid West Art Prize is a biennial art competition, which showcases the work of Western Australian artists at the Geraldton Regional Art Gallery (GRAG).
91¹ú²ú×ÔÅÄ Mayor Jerry Clune said the event is always one of the highlights of the City’s cultural calendar.
“The Mid West Art Prize Gala Opening Night is a spectacular celebration of creativity and the vibrant arts culture we have in WA,” he said.
“It’s a chance to connect with the artists, enjoy live performances, vote for your favourite artwork and experience the energy that comes when art, people and entertainment converge.
“I am particularly looking forward to seeing the crowd rocking when Perth band King Ibis hit the stage alongside local musician Carly Markham.
“I encourage everyone to buy tickets whilst you still can to avoid missing out on what will be a fantastic evening,” finished Mayor Clune.
The Gala Opening Night will feature live music as well as entertainment from The Huxleys and projections in GRAG Park from local artist Ralf Mulks.
All artworks displayed are new pieces that have never been previously exhibited and are in the running for prizes totalling $37,000 across seven categories.
The City would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to local partners – Mid West Development Commission, Melissa Price MP, Regional Arts WA, Bowman-Bright Young and Durlacher Dental Care as well as the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sports for their generous support of this event.
Public voting for the People’s Choice Prize opens on the night, with the winner announced at the close of the exhibition.
Mid West Art Prize Gala Opening Night will take place Saturday 22 November from 6pm – 9:30pm.
The Gallery is currently closed to allow for the exhibition’s installation and will reopen to the public on Sunday 23 November.
